Pilgrimage
In this immersive pairing, Southern Gothic composer Carlisle Floyd’s great song cycle, Pilgrimage – originally recorded by New Orleans Bass-Baritone Norman Treigle and the New Orleans Symphony – is interwoven with the history of New Orleans jazz, with 8 concerts across 7 venues weaving Floyd’s centennial masterwork with the luminaries of NOLA’s contemporary jazz, funk and contemporary classical scenes, nodding to the city’s annual famed 9 Churches Pilgrimage in alternating concerts from the French Quarter to the Bywater. Bring your own beliefs or none and come walk a mile or two in our musical shoes, and discover how deep the culture of New Orleans music really goes.
